Background and Capabilities

This statement of qualifications (SOQ) provides an overview of our capabilities. Brixey Engineering & Land Surveying, Inc., was established in May 1984 by Ronald N. Brixey and Mark E. Baker for the purpose of providing services such as land planning, surveying and coal-mining engineering. Over the years we have improved and expanded the services we offer to include the following types of projects.

Brixey Engineering & Land Surveying, Inc., serves a wide variety of clients in both public and private industries. We are based in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Our current span of operations covers the states of Arkansas and Oklahoma. We have considerable experience in the preparation of plans and specifications for streets, drainage, water, and sewer improvements for residential subdivisions. We have performed drainage studies for municipalities to insure that downstream effects of land development are minimized. We have also provided drainage studies and construction plans for municipal drainage-improvement projects. In addition, we have provided design and construction plans for municipal street-improvement projects. We have performed topographic surveys, drainage calculations and design where necessary. We have also completed forms and applications resulting in revisions to FEMA flood maps.

Some cases require engineering expertise that is beyond our capabilities. In those circumstances, we employ qualified subconsultants. Their expertise is specifically suited to best serve the requirements of the project. In such cases, we act as the project manager and primary consultant. Our responsibilities include document preparation and processing, as well as incorporation of information into the overall plan.

Municipal Project Experience

Sanitary Sewer Improvements

Westside Sanitary Sewer Collector Line in Greenwood, Arkansas

Brixey Engineering & Land Surveying, Inc., was contracted by the city of Greenwood to design and administrate the construction of approximately 4,200 feet of 18-inch sanitary sewer collectors. The project included analysis of existing and potential sanitary sewer flows, collection of topographic information, selection of a route, design of the line, and construction administration to completion.

Knoxville Sanitary-Sewer Trunk Line in Greenwood, Arkansas

Brixey Engineering & Land Surveying, Inc., was contracted by the city of Greenwood to design and administrate construction of approximately 2,700 feet of 12-inch sanitary sewer upgrade and relocation. The project included analysis of existing and potential sanitary sewer flows, collection of topographic information, selection of a route, design of the line, and construction administration to completion.

Drainage Studies

Maple Ridge Drainage Study (Off-Site) in Greenwood, Arkansas

Brixey Engineering & Land Surveying, Inc., was asked by the city of Greenwood to analyze drainage structures and ditches downstream of the proposed Maple Ridge Subdivision. The study included analysis of existing structures and required capacities for existing design flows.

Lincoln Street Drainage Study and Construction Plans for Improvements in Greenwood, Arkansas

Brixey Engineering & Land Surveying, Inc., was contracted by the city of Greenwood to develop a drainage study of Lincoln Street and devise solutions to the flooding problem in the project’s area. The study produced several alternatives to alleviate the excess storm water along Lincoln Street. Construction plans and specifications were created based on the preferred alternative.

Webster Street Improvements in Greenwood, Arkansas

Brixey Engineering & Land Surveying, Inc., was contracted by the city of Greenwood to design and administer construction of approximately 2,400 feet of street widening and overlay.

Seba Road Improvements in Centerton, Arkansas

Brixey Engineering & Land Surveying, Inc., was contracted by the city of Centerton, Arkansas, to design approximately 3,200 feet of street reconstruction and drainage improvements. The project consisted of geometric design of the street and its intersections, and design of drainage structures along the street.

Gamble Road Improvements in Centerton, Arkansas

Brixey Engineering & Land Surveying, Inc., was contracted by the city of Centerton, Arkansas to design approximately 4,000 feet of street reconstruction and drainage improvements. The project consisted of geometric design of the street and design of drainage structures along the street.

North Deerwood Drive in Greenwood, Arkansas

Brixey Engineering & Land Surveying, Inc., was asked by the city of Greenwood to design approximately 1,500 feet of collector street. The project included collection of topographic information, design of the street and construction administration to completion.
